This manual wheat grass juicer is heavy duty, but has many down falls. You must assemble and re-assemble each time you juice. It must be cleaned and dried or it will rust,(this takes a lot of time). The paint is coming off after only a week. The bolts don't tighten well, and the juice leaks everywhere. It creates a huge mess and too much work for less than an oz of juice. It also seems to take tons of grass to get anything out of it. I regret buying this product.

Juicer Attachment for Magic Bullet Review

If I could I'd give it minus 10 stars. Magic Bullet is a terrific small appliance, I love it to death but it is NOT a juicer by any stretch of imagination. Maybe you'll manage to fix a quater of a cup of melon or papaya juice but don't even dream of it handling carrots or even cucumbers. The cylinder mesh insert will jump off the seats in one nanosecond, there is no filter or cutting mesh of any kind between the pusher and the blades when you try to push your veggies down; you, your counter and kitchen walls be in pulp up to here (red beats make splatter decor especially bright and colorful:-) , all veggies/fruit/salad leaves completely wasted.

I am writing this because I had SO much difficulty finding more than a handful of customer reviews online when trying to find a juicer.
My family has been juicing for years now with a popular-brand centrifugal juicer. My stepdad was diagnosed with cancer and we started researching the Gerson Therapy. This juicer is NOT recommended for the Gerson Therapy, but their system is so complicated and expensive we decided to compromise. We went with a twin-gear because it's a much better juicer than a centrifugal but it's not nearly as much trouble as a 2-stage press system.

Anyway, we love it. We estimate we're getting twice as much juice per-veggie than we did with the centrifugal juicer. We juice at least 4 times per week (for 3 people) so we're thinking the price difference will easily be paid in a year just from the savings on produce.

It's also easier to clean than our old one. The hardest part to clean is the mesh screen... it has some tight corners that the pulp really gets jammed into, but after cleaning it a couple times it gets much faster. The rest of the parts are easy.

I haven't experienced any of the design flaws that the other reviewer mentioned. I mention that review specifically because it almost talked me out of getting this juicer, but I'm glad I decided to go ahead anyway. No juice has leaked out in any weird areas. The only part of the safety hood on mine that got dirty was the top tray around the feed chute, which is easily rinsed off. Some pulp gets into the area immediately around where the gears attach, but that can be cleaned with a squeeze of water from the sponge and a quick wipe-off. No juice got out any other areas.

OrangeX 17343 OJex Juicer, Cobalt Review

I allowed myself to be seduced by this juicer's unique good looks and vendor propaganda regarding its sturdy cast-iron construction.

Well, I juiced exactly _3_ 3-inch diameter oranges.On the 4th orange, a critical cast-iron piece on one of the 2 right-hand hinges broke.

Other review comments concerning difficulty of cleanup are accurate.I would add that the metal strainer has edges that seemed quite sharp, making cleanup potentially dangerous.

I would not recommend this juicer under any circumstances.

Tribest Green Star 3000 Deluxe Juicer/Juice Extractor Review

This juicer definitely produced the best juice. Put cool veggies and fruit in from the frig and get cool juice out, and the quality is outstanding. We have been juicing now for a month and we feel so much better. Because of the energy I get from the juice in the mornings, I was actually able to quick drinking coffee! While one of the other reviewers was correct in that this juicer does take up some counter space, the parts are definitely not made cheaply - at least on our model (the Green Star 3000). After all the junk that is being made these days, this machine is made of quality parts, and is actually a little bit heavy (but it has a nice handle).

We love our machine. We love having the best possible product coming out of our machine. The only drawback, and it is a slight one, it that the machine does take a few minutes to clean, and should be cleaned immediately after use. The parts are good quality, strong and durable, but not for use in a dishwasher (according to the manuafacturer.) If it were not for this, I wouldhave given it five stars easily.

One hint: Plan you juicing ahead of time. Because the machine takes 4-5 minutes (for two people) to clean, and because of the quality of the product (the magnets and low speed and low heat which does allow the juice to remain fresh longer) we usually juice enough for two mornings at a time (for two adults). All told, between cutting up the veggies and fruit, the actual juicing, and cleaning up,it takes about 20 minutes every other day. This may seem a little long just for juicing, but for our health, it is way worth it!!

Orange-X Professional Juicer Review

I bought this juicer for home use on the basis of good Amazon reviews--but only to juice lemons and limes and this review only addresses these fruits.If I didn't use a Waringtwist juicer at work, I wouldn't have recognized the difference.It turns out the twist juicer definitely extracts more juice from a lemon--it breaks all the membrane and just leaves the shell--virtually dry.The press method squashes the lemon--there is still quite a bit of juice left, which I end up squezzing by hand.Also the head on the orange x is larger than the twist juicer, which may be fine for an orange, but is too large to applyequal pressure for a lemon--much less for a lime.I always end up having to reposition the lemon and press again.I e-mailed orange x before buying the juicer to ask them specifically about this--they never replied but I went ahead and bought it anyway.It looks great on the counter, and is easy to clean (but then, so is the twist juicer at work).So, think again if your main juicing needs are for lemons/limes.My three stars are only because ofits disappointing performance for these fruits.It is called ORANGE x afterall!

DeLonghi KS500 34-Ounce-Capacity Electric Citrus Juicer Review

I received this product from Amazon on Friday, January 4th. My main reason for purchasing this juicer was its clean design (really like how the juice falls into the pitcher as opposed to the kinds that have a spout where the juice comes out) and for the unbeatable price. However, this morning, Tuesday, January 8th (a whopping 5 days since I've had this juicer) the juicer finally gave up on me.

I was juicing some small lemons when the machine just stopped working. There was no resistance or strange noise - nothing - the motor just completely stopped working. I would expect an inexpensive juicer like this to have a relatively short lifetime, however, 5 days is ridiculous. While the design was very nice (adjustable pulp settings, easy to clean, all parts fit neatly together), the fact that it simply stopped working (for no apparent reason) is astounding.

I had read similar reviews on other "cheaper" juicers that if you press too hard the motor could burn out - having read this, I was very careful to not push too hard when juicing. I would NOT recommend this juicer to anyone - Spend the extra money on a better quality juicer and avoid the headache that this one will cause.

The Sharper Image 8021SI Stainless-Steel 700-Watt Super Juicer Review

This is the first juicer I've owned, so I don't really have a comparison.However, I did do quite a bit of research before buying this. Mine has the black top, not clear, so I can't see what's happening, but apart from that it's the same.I was very impressed with the motor.However, unlike the photos, I couldn't find small enough apples or pairs to go whole down the tube, and had to cut them in 1/4, but no problem. Also, the orange juice made from oranges with peel on (as suggested) tasted awful. Perhaps the really thin-peel oranges would be fine, but none available at the moment. I quickly discovered that although it says that you don't have to peel, the juice is much nicer for many fruits when you do - i.e. citrus, pineapple, mango - fruits that you wouldn't eat the peel anyway.I deducted one star because I did find that the clean-up took longer than expected. All these ads always show a 1-2-3 quick-clean but anyone who has juiced, and for those that haven't, you MUST clean immediately after juicing, otherwise those little bits of fruit stick to everything and are impossible to clean off and (Heaven forbid) can grow bacteria..... But quite honestly, for the price, I think it's a good deal - from what I've seen of much more expensive ones, this is comparable.

One last thing - I was surprised that the remaining pulp wasn't dryer for some fruits - seemed like you could extract more juice (especially pineapple) - but then the recipe book suggests using the pulp for muffins, and that seems like a great idea which I shall try.

Amco Enameled Aluminum Lemon Squeezer Review

I've owned several of these enameled aluminum citrus squeezers made in Mexico or Venezuela.They do the job, but I disagree that they are "dishwasher safe."If you wash them in a dishwasher at high temperatures the enamel paint will inevitably peel.Aluminum doesn't rust, but it still oxidizes, and the aluminum surface will turn a dark gray and feel rough.
Furthermore, the pin that holds the two handles together will corrode, and inevitably break.

I have been juicing lemons a lot lately, and I had a little 3 part gadget that had a bottom, a middle piece that had the pointed juicer part, and strainer to catch seeds, and then a rounded top that you would use to push the fruit down on to the juicer.It only worked OK, and was a pain to clean.Then I saw a Cooks Illustrated How To cookbook, and they talk about techniques they try and like, and the best method they found for juicing was a manual one(theirs was wood), so I started looking for one, and found this.I have used it several times since, and it is amazing!The juice just pours out!I love the round handle, very comfortable in my palm.I just use a small strainer over my measuring cup to catch any seeds.This is really easy to clean, too!
Edit to add update - now that I have had this a few months and used it a lot, I have to reiterate how great this is!I saw a wooden one in a home store, and I picked it up to test the hand feel, and it was nowhere near as comfortable in my hand, I am so glad I found this one!

Omega 8005 Juicer - Wheatgrass, Fruit and Vegetable Juicer Review

If you accept that a masticating juicer gives better quality juice than a centrifical, but you do not want a heavy, awkward machine that takes a long time to set up and longer to clean, then this is a great choice. Omega hit the sweet spot with this product. It is light, relatively small, quiet, and cleans rather quickly (the mesh screen is small and does not seem to hold on to the food), while producing fine juice from a variety of plants. (Impressive on celery and spinach; quite good enough on carrots) The result is a masticating juicer that actually gets used, rather than a (perhaps) theoretically superior juicer that is just too much of a hassle to take out. I have a 31 year-old Champion which I really like; I just never use it except when I am fasting, and sometimes not even then.
One thing should be mentioned. Many single gear juicer ads boast that a slow-turning auger damages the juice less than, say, a Champion because its fast rotation heats the juice and deactivates enzymes and other molecules. Truth is, when I run cold carrots through a Champion, I get cold carrot juice; when I run cold carrots through an Omega 8005, the juice is not warm, but it is definitely not cold. Clearly, if there is less rotation, then the heavy mechanical compression at a certain point produces heat to a greater extent than Champion's rapid rotation does. (I have read one review of another single auger juicer that said its juiced carrots actually came out hot.) Personally, I do not think either type machine actually hurts the juice's chemistry, but Champion should call its single auger competititors on their deceptive claim.
Summary: If you want knock-your-socks off cold carrot juice, get a Champion (although the Omega will still give you a carrot juice high, and, for all I know, its juice will taste just as good if you chill it). If you want bragging rights about the amount of nutrients in your juice, get a Green machine (at almost twice the price, twice the weight, and a long time to clean up). If you want a juicer that probably gives better quality and variety of juices than a centrifical juicer with less noise and no greater cleanup time, get this one. You will actually use it even if you don't have the counter space for it.

1. Use the KitchenAid mixing bowl to catch the juice, and place a large standard kitchen strainer across the bowl.This speeds things up a lot!
2. Rub some shortening on the aluminum shaft before inserting it into the brass sleeve.If you use your juicer a lot, this will greatly prolong its life.
For KitchenAid-
1. The plastic piece that inserts into the mixer should be made out of metal, instead of plastic with a metal sleve.On mine the plastic is cracking away from the brass.
2. The aluminum shaft should be brass or steel.As it is, the bearing surface is a small area of aluminum that even when lubricated, is showing lots of wear.

Pros:
1.Solidly-built.Looks like it will last forever. (So is the 9000)

2.A breeze to clean. (Much faster than the 9000)

3.Better than Omega 9000 in that you can continuously juice large quantities without stopping to clean.

Cons:
1. Really small chute

2. Carrots are LOTS faster in the 9000 and seem to have a similar yield.If you're used to the speed of a centrifugal juicer, the slow speed of this juicer might seem tiresome.

3.You really need to push down hard in the 8004, so if you have any disabilities or wrist problems, this is NOT the juicer for you.

4. My old Omega 9000 is different, but no worse.
-- I'm not sure that the yield is all that different.
-- The taste is no different.
-- I'm not sure that the old Omega "heats the juice and destroys the enzymes" as the juice in the 9000 still comes out plenty cold.Instead of spreading this "rumor," someone should really test it and see if centrifugal juicing really "destroys enzymes."

5.The first time I used this juicer a few weeks ago, I started with spinach, then tried using a carrot to push it in, like with the 9000.Bad idea!The whole feed chute jammed up, and because of the "L" shape, it took me an hour to slowly pick out the spinach and extract the carrot.

Summary: Although this juicer is significantly easier to clean than Omega 9000, it might not be better for everyone.Please note that I'm comparing it to the centrifugal juicer that keeps the pulp in the basket for continuous spinning.I would not recommend a "pulp ejector" juicer to anyone (Too loud and wasteful of produce.)

Norpro 527 Citrus Orange Juicer Review

I just bought this juicer.I was worried about a few things:
1.I saw a Good Eats episode on oranges the very next day after I'd purchased this.Alton Brown held up this exact juicer, said it was junk, threw it away, and recommend using a more sophisticated press.

2.I read the reviews here that said there was lots of orange and juice left behind, because the orange folds up around the edges trapping fruit and juice.

3.Some people said the lemon and lime presses (I have a really cool one with a swiveling plate that lets you choose smaller for limes or larger for lemons) worked great, but the orange one didn't.That made me even more worried since my lemon/lime juicer works great and that's why I went for the orange one.

4.Finally: some people said the broke in a few months.

Here's my review:
I juiced my 1st orange.It worked great.

A.I searched online to see just how much juice an orange should produce.From what I saw, you get 2-3 oz per medium sized orange.My medium sized orange produced exactly 3 oz.So that seems pretty darned good.

B.It didn't take a lot of force to make it work, however once the orange is almost done, some squirted back up again.I am confident that was user error, but we'll see after I go buy some more oranges and experiment.I will update my review with any new facts.Some juice was above the peel.If I just opened up the squeezer and turned it over, that poured into the glass instead of flying up into my eye.

C.About the fold up, fruit left behind comments.Yup.It folded up.Yup, there was fruit in the fold.I unfolded that lip and ate what was left.It was juicy and delicious!If you are gonna chill the oj for later, this gives you a tasty treat for you light effort.But since a normal orange gives 2-3 oz of juice, and I got 3oz of juice, I just don't see this as a problem.Great yield, plus a treat for the squeezer (me).

D.Mine has only juiced on tasty orange so far.If it breaks, I will update my review.Until then... my recommendation is buy!If you want a bigger press like Alton recommends go for it, but honestly, if I squeeze 4 oranges, I'll get a nice big 12oz glass of delicious oj, and some orange bit snacks to boot. :)

E.The handles are a lot shorter than I imagined.I picked this one cause it was eligible for amazon prime.Otherwise, I'd pick the one with the longest handles for extra leverage.But again, I had zero trouble with this one, so it may not be super vital to have the longer handles.

Z-Star Wheatgrass Manual Juicer Review

I am partial to the masticating (rather than spinning centrifugal) juicers for reasons I won't go into here, so I went nuts shopping trying to fit my budget.I looked over this model quite a few times thinking it wouldn't be suitable for more than wheatgrass, or assuming it would be a lot of extra work.

Turns out that it is so easy to use I can't hardly believe more reviewers don't talk about it.Granted I chop the veggies, but to give you a frame of reference it's less effort to turn the handle than to tamp the veggies down the chute, and you have to do that even with an electric (not that either is hard).I could liken the manual/electric usage to driving manual/automatic transmission.I actually prefer this manual over the electric masticating I have used most days.Staying actively engaged makes it go by faster or something.

It is also extremely efficient.I have also used an Omega 8005 and feel like I not only saved money up front, but am spending less on veggies.As a daily juicer, that adds up.It's also lower pulp in the juice and less froth, the first a matter of taste the second a matter of shelf life.If you like the pulp, you can obviously add it back in.

As others have mentioned the pulp wants to drop into the juice container.There are about a hundred ways to easily work around this.My personal favorite is to put something under the container to raise it up a bit, allowing it to slide "out of range."Complaining about that seems to me about as petty as complaining you need an outlet for your toaster.It's really no big deal.

I have been extremely pleased with what it is able to juice.I am growing wheatgrass, but so far have fed it mainly apples, celery, and carrots.

I suspect this is the Green Star or Solo Star or whatever it's called these days with a crank instead of a motor.That is just a guess, based somewhat on the available "conversion kit" for electric model owners.Either way it is a terrific juicer and I'm glad I didn't fork over triple the price for an electric motor.

Update 11 1/2 months after buying:
I finally had something go wrong with this juicer. I was making peanut butter with the plug in the cap and it broke. I jumped on the Tribest web site, found a toll-free number, and in less than a minute I had someone from the company on the phone who replaced the part free of charge. They honored the 1 year warranty with no hassles even though I was pushing the thing pretty hard (I think the rep was surprised I had successfully made as much PB as I had with the plug in). BTW - the peanut butter this makes is amazing. It's actually capable of making creamy peanut butter, just leave the plug out of the front cap. ;)

Whoever the reviewer named Joyce Evans is, she has a real problem, and it isn't Champion.This reviewer has gone on Amazon and other review sites with the same misrepresentation:that Champion doesn't support its older juicers with parts.

The Plastaket company, owned by the same family from the beginning, introduced the Champion in 1955.It was the same, now classic, design, using a large and very powerful GE motor turning at ~1700rpm, as opposed to 3500-16,000 rpm on a centrifugal juicer.Looking at the juicer, the feed/chute part, the cutting cone and the screen are made of high-grade nylon as opposed to the cheaper and easier molded plastic on today's juicers.With use over the years, the molds for these parts simply wore out and new, visually identical parts were made.However, this is a precision machine and the new parts were different enough that they don't fit the very oldest juicers.

My Champion was purchased nearly 30 years ago.After reading this woman's entries here and elsewhere, I called up Plastaket.As with any juicer heavily used, the cutting mechanism will dull over time and should be replaced every few years.The entire assembly was still available for my juicer, as I expected.I spoke at some length with the company and brought up this woman's work online.The change in the parts was explained to me; they readily stated that their very oldest juicers don't have an inventory of parts.

I ask other readers:how many small appliance manufacturers keep parts past a very few years?What do readers think of the probability of getting new cutting baskets for all these Juiceman and LaLanne labeled juicers 10 years from now, much less 30 years from now?The only juicers that I know of with enough history to check, are Acme/Omega (they use the same cutter wheel, still readily available) and Norwalk (at least for most parts for this $2000+ machine).

Though of course Ms. Evans doesn't bother to mention the age of the Champion to which she refers, re Plastaket it must be a very, very old model.This woman states on her profile that she is some type of 'professional' and 'educator'.This 1-star rating combined with her refusal or inability to even review the machine should nullify her review.I have no problem if this person doesn't like the machine--who knows what she is thinking?After seeing this very same, quite unfair byline on more than one juicer review site, I can't decide whether she's some type of Champion weirdo or just a nut.

Hurom HU-100 Slow Juicer, Snow White Review

For the last four years I've used a centrifugal juicer and always wanted a masticating juicer, but never bought one because I knew some of them had problems juicing fruits, and also that they're very slow.

So, when I saw the advertisement for this "slow" juicer that was fast and which could juice both leafy greens and fruits equally well, I was very excited. I raptly watched the video demonstrations of its capabilities and ordered it promptly.Some of its purported advantages of extremely dry pulp, more juice, little to no foam, etc. have fallen far short of the promises made. I notice no increased amount of juice, the foam is absolutely no less than it was with a centrifugal juicer, and UNLIKE my trusty centrifigual juicer the Hurom does a LOUSY job of juicing greens. Just try to juice a leaf of Kale and you'll find it gets all wound up around the screw that is supposed to be chewing it up. It's a mess! I have to stop, put it in reverse, which makes the top come off, then unplug it, stick my hands down around the screw and try to get some of the stuck kale out. And, if you are going to juice a green like kale, do it last or anything you try to juice afterwards will also get stuck around the screw with the kale and not get juiced.

I have also NOT noticed any less separation than the juice created with my centrifugal juicer. So, that's a bust, too.

On the positive side, here are some things I do like about it better than my centrifugal -- it's blessedly quiet, the juice doesn't spit out at high velocity causing splashing everywhere, also small berries and things like pomengranate seeds are easier to juice since they're not trying to jump back out the top of the juicer like they do with the high-speed velocity of the centrifugal juicer.

So, if this is your first juicer, you'll probably be pretty happy with it. If you're a seasoned juicer and are looking to buy up, however, for the money I think I'd wished I'd gone for the twin auger juicer instead.

Update: I've been using the juicer for a couple of months now and am pretty happy with it. I just make sure I tear some of the larger greens up a bit before feeding them in, and I try to juice them last or right before some other item that will help push them through, like celery.

Black & Decker JE1500 Fruit-and-Vegetable Juicer Review

It's a fair juicer and you can use it for everyday job but there are some cons:
When we juiced the first carrots, most parts of the juicer got the orange color and wasn't gone after washing.
It adds some pulp to the juice (which is not necessarily bad).
The motor rotates so fast that there's not enough time for juicing resulting in some unjuiced left-over.
Overall, if you don't want to spend a lot of money on a decent juicer, this one is good for the price.

Omega Juicer Model O2 Review

I did SO much research on the Internet before finding that there are 2 small juicers available, and that both get good reviews. One is this one and the other is the L'equip mini. This model is newer so it didn't have as many reviews, so I couldn't decide. I called up one of the Internet sites and asked which they suggested. They said that Omega has a great reputation and stands by their products better than the other company. If you read the reviews of the L'equip 221 you'll see that that company is horrible if you have a problem with your juicer.

Pros:
QUIET (much quieter than my blender), EFFICIENT, EASY TO CLEAN, EXTREMELY WELL BUILT

Juicer is GREAT!! It comes assembled and you can rinse out the parts and try it out in like 5 minutes.

From my research I knew that dry pulp shows it's an efficient machine, and that frothy juice is a negative -from supposed oxidation. I'd call it oxygenization, since air gets into the juice from being centrifuged.

Anyway, my own pulp test was fine. My first juice batch had moist pulp but when I pushed the veggies into the chamber more lightly the pulp was surprisingly dry.

Put a plastic bag, like the kind you put your veggies in, into the pulp catcher as a liner and you'll reduce your mess by a lot. The thing disassembles quickly and easily. I use a veggie brush to clean the screen and the whole thing cleans up in like 5 minutes. The messiest thing for me was the inside of the plastic top.

There was a little froth on the top of the juice, but nothing more than you get at a juice stand, and I'm not sure I believe this is a problem anyway.

The parts are very solid. The mesh filter basket is well built and the blade is very thick and solid, especially compared to food processor blades. The bowl is also stainless.

Highly recommend. Solid build, dry pulp when you get the right technique, and Omega stands by its products.

MAY BE CON:
Not sure about the froth issue. It didn't seem very frothy to me, but if you're used to the classic Champion juicers it may be more than you've had before. I'm just an inexperienced juicer and can't really tell whether this thing makes a lot or a little. Doesn't seem like a lot to me but I have nothing to compare it to.

Breville BJE200XL Compact Juice Fountain 1.5-qt. Review

When I was in the market for a juicer, I had 2 in the price range I was thinking about.They were the Breville Compact Juice Fountain and Jack LaLanne's Power Juicer.A friend had let me borrow the Power Juicer, and I really liked it.As I was reading reviews and doing research, I concluded that the Breville was a better choice.So, I went out and bought the Breville.

I made the wrong choice!When I juiced apples, it left chunks of apples un-juiced that were about the size of a quarter.It also sent a good bit of the peal into the pulp area.I also found the juice to be very "gritty" and full of pulp.I was juicing a days worth of juice for my wife and me (about 32 lbs of apples), so I had to stop the machine and clean out the pulp 3 times.

I have since returned the Breville juicer and bought the Jack LaLanne Power Juicer.It works much better.I can juice 32 lbs of apples and never change the pulp catcher (I put a bag in it, so I don't even have to clean that part of the machine.The juice is much cleaner with less pulp.The Breville has a faster RPM motor, but the Power Juicer is every bit as powerful.It juices whole apples easily.You can also get about 4 decent sized carrots in there with no trouble.

All in all, I recommend the Power Juicer over the Breville.If you like a lot of pulp, then you might like the Breville.It is a good juicer for smaller quantities of juice.The Breville is a better looking juicer as far as its styling and color goes, but for me the Power Juicer wins hands down.

Acme 6001 Juicerator Household Centrifugal Juicer Stainless Steel Top Review

Acme juicers are made by Waring now as they have been for the past twenty years or so.One can buy the identical juicer as the Waring Commercial, so price shopping may prove fruitful.

I'll state that I've used Acme juicers for 30 years and the one I own now I've had for a number of years.The design hasn't changed, though, and my juicer uses the same supplies and parts.

Though the Acme appears quite similar to the Omega 1000/9000 series, there is one important design difference.If you look at the photo of the Acme you will see there are no moving arms on either side to hold the lid down.Apparently these arms are an Achilles' heel for Omega owners, breaking over time.The Acme uses no arms.The lid is placed on top of the bowl, then a short twist locks the lid to the side arms.No hanging, moving parts to break, and it's extremely quick and easy and secure.I'm sure when the guys breaking away from Acme decided to essentially copy the Acme design they couldn't take this with them, so they went with breakable arms.I can only say that after thousands of openings and closings with my Acme, the lid is as secure and workable as it was when new.

As can be seen, this isn't one of the so-popular pulp ejectors with the slanted slotted basket to throw pulp out.Upon opening the lid and looking inside, the sheer size of the straight-sided pulp catcher is impressive after looking at so many little slanted baskets.The pulp catcher is large enough to easily accommodate my man's hand for cleaning. And, of course, the outer stainless steel container is even larger.Because those of us who do serious juicing know that periodically the cutting blades will dull and need replacement, the cutting blades are on a very heavy stainless weighted disc, separate.At this time the cost is around $30 to replace this heavy cutting disc; full-sized Omegas and Acmes use the same disc.And, of course, the big juice bar commercial juicers also feature replaceable cutting discs.There is a large threaded shaft coming up from the motor in the middle.A large, easily-handled knob with built-in spring clutch threads on the shaft after dropping the heavy cutting disc on the shaft.Alignment of the cutting disc is automatic, no fiddling required.Total assembly of the stainless steel basket, outer container, cutting disc and lid is extremely easy and fast compared to so many newer generation juicers.Just a classic design that truly hasn't been improved.

This is a massive and heavy appliance and it sets on a dozen or so rubber feet; in years I've never known the thing to walk an inch.These big rubber feet (some are visible in the photo) dampen vibration perfectly.Upon turning the machine on, the noise level is quite low compared to so many juicers, rather a low, whooshing noise.The basket spins at 60rpm/second.This may not be as fast as some machines, but one must remember the large diameter of the pulp basket.It gains speed quickly in a few seconds is at operating speed.I'm not going to jam produce into any juicer like some of those idiots on infomercials, and this juicer easily takes care of firm vegetables.The best method for leafy greens is to roll them up into a roll or a ball to give sufficient firmness for the cutting disc.No, this juicer doesn't extract the same amount of juice for leafy greens.Buy a masticator if you want primarily those.

After use, it does take a half minute or so for the basket to slowly return to idle.I will say this juicer will easily produce a couple of 16-ounce glasses of carrot/beet/celery type juice before requiring cleaning of the pulp container.And boy, is it dry!Can't squeeze a drop out.I keep reading how much harder this basket is to clean than pulp ejectors.Not in my opinion.Because of its great size, I can easily reach inside.Not only that, because it isn't slanted on the circumference, pulp somehow doesn't get a grip.I never have to use a brush on this basket, just running water and my hand.

I know this review is long, but there isn't a lot of publicity about a juicer that was one of the bedrocks of juicing, and still should be.Unlike so many of these little foreign-made machines selling like hotcakes now, this juicer will be around for your grandchildren--and parts are still completely available.Hope this helps those considering--and compare the lid lock with Omega!

Metrokane Citrus Power Professional Juicer Review

So far it's been great!It's much faster and cleaner than the electric citrus juicers.It also seems to get a lot more juice out than the traditional juicers.Unlike the more powerful rotating juicers it does no get any bitter rind into the juice.

Hamilton Beach 932 Commercial Citrus Juicer, Black Review

I bought this juicer after trying an orangex juicer that broke on the 4th orange I put through it.My Hamilton-Beach juicer has lasted through a whole bag now, so here's the scoop:

Good things:
1) Rack & pinion action effectively transfers the applied force to the squeezer.There's no off-axis force so you don't have to worry about the whole darn thing tipping over when you bear down.

2) Gratifyingly simple to disassemble and clean.

3) The metal grate's edges are machined smooth - - no worries about getting cut (one of the problems I had with the orangex product).

4)When you remove your juice glass, a drip cup swings into place to keep residual juice drippings off your countertop.That is a very user-friendly design element.

5)The mechanism does a good job of extracting all of the juice.

6)The resulting juice did not have any hint of strong citrus oil.

Other things:
For a product that bills itself as "professional grade", it seems like it could be easy to overpower & break something if you 'hang on the lever'.I would not be too overzealous about squeezing the last drops if dealing with a grapefruit or a really big orange, for fear of breaking something.But for lemons, limes, and standard size oranges it seems just fine.

While the unit doesn't weigh very much, it's pretty tall -- about 20" in its fully-down, storage position -- so storage may be an issue for some.

Overall:
I'm glad I got this one.
