AeroGrow AeroGarden with Gourmet Herb Seed Kit Review

AeroGrow AeroGarden with Gourmet Herb Seed Kitsee update at end of review

******************

I was lamenting about only having frech lettuce, herbs, chives, and tomatoes from may garden during the long fall-winter-spring parts of the year. The refrigerated stuff from the grocery store goes bad right away and does not taste as good as the fresh stuff from the garden, either.

Then I saw a Time Magazine page on the new AeroGrow AeroGarden, and I just had to try it out. After reading the AeroGrow website before making the purchase, I realized that buying one garden would not work for me, as the tomatoes cannot be grown in the same garden as lettuce

Samson Ultrasonic Fruit, Vegetable and Dish Washer Plus Disinfector 3D Soul System GBW-300 Review

Samson Ultrasonic Fruit, Vegetable and Dish Washer Plus Disinfector 3D Soul System GBW-300Be aware that this unit is rather heavy and takes up a lot of space if you leave it on the counter.I keep mine on the counter by the sink, use the sink's sprayer to fill the unit, and scoot the unit partially over the sink to empty it.I do believe that my fruits and vegetables stay fresh longer if bathed in this cleaning device.Since I live an hour from the closest town, I only shop once a week so this is a great feature for me.The unit will hold a large head of romaine lettuce.I hit the fruit or vegetable button once for organic produce and twice for non-organic produce. It's nice to be able to vary the amount of time in this way.The "I'm done" tune is pleasant! The low voltage use is good especially if you are on a solar system as I am.

RSVP Compost Pail Review

RSVP Compost PailI bought this compost pail eight months ago, and am very happy I did.I have reduced the amount of weekly trash and in combination with a composter in my postage-stamp-size backyard, have set up a system where I'm making great compost for my potted plants, my little garden, my house plants. The compost pail, which sits on my kitchen counter, is virtually odorless (I haven't changed the filter yet--I just periodically rinse it).

The only reason I'm giving it four rather than five stars is that now, in the warmer months, it's attracting fruit flies. Every time I lift the lid a little swarm of them (5 or 6) flies out. They fly right back in, however, for it's Paradise Hotel for them. I don't think the charcoal filter does anything in terms of keeping them out.I may try a bit of mosquito netting and see if that helps.

As a noveau environmentalist, I'd advise against what the other reviewer suggests:don't use a plastic trash bag! That kind of defeats the purpose, for plastic is a big environmental problem. This pail is small and easy to clean.I just dump the scraps into my composter, then rinse the pail with water that I pour into the composter thereafter. If you're fussy, you can wash it with a bit of dish soap in the kitchen sink. Mine, thanks to coffee grounds (worms love 'em), fruit and veggie peelings, actually never gets at all funky.

Generally it's recommended that you not put any animal byproducts or grains in your compost--among other things, those are what usually makes things smelly and can also lead to disease or to strange things sprouting up in your soil.

Every gardener and ecology-minded citizen agrees that composting your kitchen scraps is a terrific idea. Unfortunately the reality of a stinky can of garbage on your counter can be pretty discouraging. Behold the eco-friendly, nose-friendly solution in the form of this sleek and stylish pail. Two charcoal filters in the lid keep odors under control. A convenient handle allows you tote a gallon's worth of garbage out to the compost heap where it belongs.

Samson GBW300 Ultrasonic Ozone 3D SOUL Food Washer Review

Samson GBW300 Ultrasonic Ozone 3D SOUL Food WasherThis product came fully assembled, just fill with water and put in your fruit and hit the button. The quality of the unit seems very heavy duty, doesn't make too much noise and doesn't smell strong of ozone. I just put it on top of our sink, fill up, use the clean button, pull the drain plug and quick rinse and put it away.

I've washed fruits and veggies and seems to work very well. It's impossible to really know if it kills 98% of the junk on the produce, but they do look much cleaner and i've noticed they last longer in the frig after washing. So hopefully it's doing what they claim, i certainly feel better about eating the produce after it's washed.

I would certainly purchase it again if needed.

Product Description:
The first technology in the Samson Multi-Purpose Washer's 3D SOUL system is its nanosilver coating.Even before people knew what germs were, silver was widely known for its ability to keep water fresh. Ancient Greeks used silver jugs for their water, and American pioneers put silver coins in their milk and water to keep them from spoiling.Germs coming in contact with silver receive a fatal dose of positively charged ions, which destroy cell walls and prevent cell division. This property of silver is currently used in bandages, medical instruments, and silver-sulfadiazine (a tropical antimicrobial cream).Nano is the metric prefix meaning "one billionth," e.g., "nonometer," or one billionth of a meter. The clear nanosilver coating on the Samson Multi-Purpose Washer contains 1-3 nm thin, pure silver particles. As water circulate in the Samson Multi-Purpose Washer, germs removed from the surface of the item being cleaned, or already present in the water, come in contact with the nanosilver coating and are destroyed. The second line of attack against germs, odors, and contaminants in the Samson Multi-Purpose Washer's 3D SOUL system is O3, the chemical symbol of ozone, also know as activated oxygen.O3 is formed naturally in the earths atmosphere by lightning and UV rays from the sun. You have probably smelled O3 in the form of the fresh, clean smell in the air after a thunderstorm. The electricity or UV ray splits molecular oxygen, O2, into two atoms of O, which attach themselves to other O2 molecules, forming O3.O3 is an unstable gas and decomposes to elemental oxygen in a short amount of time after generation, especially in water. Therfore, unlike chlorine, O3 kills germs and nuetralizes chemicals without harmful remainders or unpleasant odor in the water. Furthermore, O3 is conservatively estimated to be 10 times more effective than chlorine in destroying viruses and bacteria!O3 kills microbes and neutralizes chemical pollutants through oxi
